At its recent meeting, the governing Council of Charles Sturt University appointed members to the new Regional Consultative Committee for the Dubbo Campus.
The University is establishing a network of regional consultative committees across its campus areas to provide advice to the Vice-Chancellor on strategic initiatives and opportunities for development - with particular emphasis on the University’s regional profile and engagement.
“Our relationship, and how we relate with our regional communities is crucially important to our future and this is where the newly formed Regional Consultative Committees will have a core role for CSU,” said CSU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ian Goulter.
The new Regional Consultative Committee for the Dubbo Campus will work closely with the Head of Campus, Professor David Battersby, who will be Chairperson of the Committee.
Members of the Dubbo Campus Regional Consultative Committee are:
Ms Marion Browne: A resident of Broken Hill having recently retired from her position as careers adviser at Willyama High School. She has been a councillor with the Broken Hill City Council and has been active in community and educational groups in Broken Hill. She has been a Director of the Western Research Institute.
Mr Andrew Bruggy: Works Manager for the Cobar Shire Council. He is a civil engineer currently completing his MBA from Deakin University. He has been at Cobar since 2002 and prior to that worked in a number of regional centres in NSW (Wellington, Tamworth, Broken Hill).
Mr Craig Biles: A Juvenile Justice Officer in Dubbo for the past seven years. He is a Social Welfare graduate of the Dubbo Campus completing his studies in 2000. He is active in Indigenous community issues in Dubbo and his family links are in Brewarrina with Ngemba people.
Ms Gale Eckford: Has been a Dubbo resident since 1963. She has been active in community and welfare organisations in Dubbo and is currently chairperson of the Dubbo Tourism Association and the Dubbo City Council Advisory Committee.
Mr Richard Lawson: Editor of the Dubbo newspaper, The Daily Liberal, for the past 10 years. He was a member of the former Dubbo Campus Advisory Committee. He is active in the local community and has been on the Orana Regional Development Board.
The Dubbo Campus Regional Consultative Committee is the first new membership announced for CSU, with notice of other campus committees to be issued in coming months. The inaugural meeting for the Dubbo Campus committee is scheduled for Wednesday 22 September.Mr Max Walters AM, MBE: Recently retired having had a long association with Central West and the Far West regions of New South Wales. He is currently chairperson of the Orana Regional Development Board and has been a member of the New South Wales Regional Development Advisory Council. His MBE was for services to local government and his AM award was for services to the community.
