All Charles Sturt University (CSU) distance education students in Australia will benefit from an expansion of services formerly available only to those in rural and remote regions.

The Distance Education Outreach Team (DE Outreach) has replaced the CSU Regional and Remote Learning and Support Team, and team members will be available to assist all students to overcome problems they may encounter when studying remotely.

Mr James Brann, manager of the DE Outreach Team, said, "Distance education can be challenging, and our specialist team of DE Outreach officers have all studied this way, so they know how to advise and support new students to achieve the best results they can.

"The former service was highly regarded by students, and the University has expanded the scope and reach of the service to assist all its distance education students.

"The DE Outreach Team advisers will travel around Australia offering face-to-face and group appointments to new distance education students to help them develop new study skills, provide feedback on assignment tasks, and answer questions about distance education study."

Mr Brann said the DE Outreach Team is also contactable via specially-designed Online Orientation Outreach sessions for those who don't live near towns and centres visited by the Team.

"Students can also keep in touch via the DE Outreach website, and can Skype or email us. We are also establishing study centres in Sydney and other areas around the state, and the website has all of our venue information for Session 1," he said.

"When students are first contacted by the DE Outreach Team, we encourage them to inform us about their particular circumstances so we can provide the most appropriate information about the various forms of support available to them, and provide strategies to assist them to succeed."
