Charles Sturt University Pro Vice-Chancellor (Public Affairs) Dr Peter Hodgson will preside over the awarding of almost $300 000 worth of scholarships to students of the University’s Bathurst Campus.

Charles Sturt University (CSU) Pro Vice-Chancellor (Public Affairs) Dr Peter Hodgson will preside over the awarding of almost $300 000 worth of scholarships to students of the University’s Bathurst Campus tomorrow, Friday 23 May, his final scholarship ceremony before his retirement from the University in July.

Dr Hodgson has carried a lead role in the Charles Sturt Foundation through which scholarships awarded by the Mitchell Foundation Trust are administered.

Under his guidance and leadership, the Mitchell Foundation Trust has awarded over $2.5 million to students of CSU and its predecessors. In Friday’s ceremony 94 students will benefit from the financial and mentorship support offered by the Trust.

The services of another significant contributor to the Trust, Ron Camplin, will be recognised with the awarding of the inaugural Ron Camplin scholarship to Gosford student Teresa Koen, who commenced studies in the Bachelor of Human Movement degree this year.

Scholarships are awarded to new and continuing students on the basis of academic merit and community leadership. In addition, four equity scholarships will be awarded to students from rural and regional areas.

Eleven scholarships will be awarded to honours students in the disciplines of accounting, business, cultural studies, human movement, primary education and psychology to support research on the Bathurst Campus.

The ceremony commences at 2.30pm in the CD Blake Auditorium on the Bathurst Campus.
