Charles Sturt University (CSU) will today (Tuesday 15 February) welcome its first enrolment of CSU students in Orange.
To mark the occasion an informal luncheon with new students, staff and senior managers of CSU will be held from 12.30pm.
New students in Pharmacy, Nursing, Management, Business (Agricultural Commerce), Equine Business Management, Farm Management, Ecological Agriculture, Viticulture and Horticulture will be at enrolment day, with activities starting from 9am.
Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor David Battersby said the start of the academic year in Orange was yet another milestone in the transition phase to CSU from the University of Sydney.
“Since announcing the transfer in November, we have been working closely with the University of Sydney to ensure a smooth experience for students.
“A number of new courses have been introduced to Orange through the transfer to CSU, and we’re pleased that pharmacy has performed so strongly. Pharmacy is a key strength for CSU, and with the new student body in Orange, we are able to provide more opportunities,” Professor Battersby said.
Following the announcement in November last year that the University of Sydney would transfer the Orange site to CSU, Charles Sturt University will cement its place as Australia’s largest regional educational institution when it welcomes enrolling students to the newly acquired Orange campus.
With 63% of enrolling students at Orange coming from regional Australia, CSU is setting the benchmark for other universities as they ensure students from non-metropolitan areas are given access to the highest quality education.
The Orange site has delivered courses in rural management since 1973 and has a strong history in providing the agricultural industry with the specialist skills required for competitive business management.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Battersby in preparing to welcome the students, said: “This in an important day for all of us. There is a great deal of potential here and our main focus will be to ensure that we increase educational opportunities in western NSW from our new base in Orange.”
