Charles Sturt University (CSU) is pleased to welcome a meeting of the nation's university Vice-Chancellors and Chancellors this week.

CSU in Wagga WaggaThe peak body representing Australia's universities, Universities Australia, will hold its annual general meeting and plenary session at CSU in Wagga Wagga on Tuesday 19 May.

At the same time, the Universities Chancellors' Council (UCC) will hold its biannual meeting at CSU in Wagga Wagga.

The peak representative bodies, including 37 Vice-Chancellors and 23 Chancellors from around Australia, were invited to the University by CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Andrew Vann.

Professor Vann said, "We are very pleased to host the Vice-Chancellors and Chancellors in Wagga Wagga. These meetings move around the country and it's great to be able to take our turn and showcase Wagga Wagga, the Riverina and inland NSW.

"We are very fortunate to be in such a wonderful part of Australia, and we always enjoy an opportunity to welcome others to it.

"Clearly it's a very interesting time in higher education and these meetings are very important opportunities for university leaders to discuss how we can move forward.  Given the deadlock over higher education reform in the federal parliament we have a lot to talk about."

During their visit, the university leaders will tour CSU's National Life Sciences Hub, Veterinary Clinical Centre, and the Experimental Winery.

They will also have a chance to test drive the latest technology for the University's animation and visual effects students, including the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.

The Universities Australia AGM and plenary session and the UCC meeting will be held at CSU in Wagga Wagga from 9am to 1pm on Tuesday 18 May. A joint lunch will then be held at the University's Convention Centre. The tours of CSU facilities will be held from 2pm to 3pm.

Wagga Wagga Mayor Councillor Rod Kendall will officially welcome the country's Vice-Chancellors and Chancellors to the city by hosting a reception at the city's Art Gallery from 6.30pm on Monday 17 May.
