Charles Sturt University will stage an online Future Careers and Work Forum on Wednesday 2 December for anyone interested in the advantages of postgraduate study to enhance their job security and advance their career prospects.
The forum via ZOOM will explore what the future of work looks like, the concepts of upskilling and future-proofing your career, and how postgraduate online study can get you where you want to go.
The event will be hosted by Charles Sturt journalism alumna Ms Melissa Doyle (pictured), and a keynote speech on ‘The workplace of the future’ will be delivered by Mr Simon Kuestenmacher, one of the world’s Top 10 influencers in data visualization.
Charles Sturt Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) Ms Jenny Roberts said the Future Careers and Work Forum is an opportunity for the University to connect with prospective postgraduate students who are considering returning to study.
“The event will assist the University to build a connection and affinity with our prospective students through meaningful interactions with our staff, students and representatives,” Ms Roberts said.
“The forum will deliver practical value to participants by providing insightful sessions about course information, as well as offering professional workshops.
“Following the keynote address by Simon Kuestenmacher, participants can build their own personalised program to engage with subject experts from a range of key growth areas – from cybersecurity, social work and education, to engineering, psychology, and health.”
Mr Kuestenmacher, one of Australia’s leading demographic experts, will look at the demographic data to see what skills and education people need to be successful in the workforce of the 2020s.
“In the ‘working from home decade’ formal qualifications will help employers to trust their workers. So postgraduate degrees matter more than ever,” Mr Kuestenmacher said. “Come along to this session to get some data-driven career advice.”
Participants will also have the chance to connect with current postgraduate students during a Q&A session, or attend the Career GPS workshop to navigate their way to postgraduate study.
Alternatively, they can spend the evening in the ‘Learn how to lead in a volatile world workshop’, to explore leadership in times of complexity, disruption and social distancing.
