The recipients of this year's Blair Milan Travel Prize for graduating theatre/media students at Charles Sturt University (CSU) have been announced.

Ms Kate Smith, lecturer in theatre/media at the CSU School of Communication and Creative Industries in Bathurst, said the $7 000 prize has been awarded to Ms Jessica Pantano, Ms Michelle Svedloff-Breur, Ms Nicola McMurdo for their production 'Locked Out'.

"These students were the creative force behind 'Locked Out', which was one of our strongest shows at this year's SPRUNG Festival," Ms Smith said.

"The group have formed a new production company and intend to travel to Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2015, as well as present the comedic show as part of a fundraiser in Sydney to help raise awareness about the Blair Milan Travel Prize and the theatre/media course."

'Locked Out' was directed by Ms Jessica Pantano, produced by Ms Michelle Svedloff-Breur, and starred Ms Nicola McMurdo.

Ms McMurdo said, "We are delighted and honoured to receive the 2014 Blair Milan Travel Prize. We are so proud to be given the opportunity to honour Blair's memory."

Mr Blair Milan (1981-2011) was a talented graduate of the theatre/media course at the CSU School of Communication and Creative Industries in Bathurst who died of acute myeloid leukaemia. He graduated from CSU with a Bachelor of Communication (Theatre/Media) with distinction in 2003. His mother, TV personality Ms Lyndey Milan, established the Blair Milan Travel Prize at CSU because Mr Milan was a talented actor who was loved by many and brought a passion to everything he did. The $7 000 Blair Milan Travel Prize was established to ensure his legacy lives on, and provides a wonderful opportunity for CSU theatre/media graduates to showcase their talents to a wider audience.

To be eligible for the prize theatre/media students do not formally apply. The winners are selected by lecture staff from eligible productions that must be performed at each annual CSU SPRUNG Festival. Criteria apply for productions. Foremost is that the quality of the production, as well as the content, concept, and design be of a 'worthy standard' and has the mobility to enable it to go on tour.
