International leader new Dean of CSU Faculty of Arts

Professor Anthony Cahalan, the current Dean of the Faculty of Design at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada's largest university of art and design, has been appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Charles Sturt University (CSU).
Professor Anthony Cahalan, the current Dean of the Faculty of Design at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Canada’s largest university of art and design, has been appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Charles Sturt University (CSU).
Welcoming the appointment, CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Goulter said that Professor Cahalan brought to the position over 20 years of successful academic, professional and managerial experience in universities, the design professions and marketing and public relations.
“Professor Cahalan’s distinguished achievements in university leadership, research and teaching made him an ideal candidate for this important role at CSU,” Professor Goulter said.
In previous senior positions, Professor Cahalan was Deputy Head of the Division of Health, Design and Science and Deputy Head of the School of Design and Architecture at the University of Canberra, where he remains Adjunct Professor of Graphic Design.
Professor Cahalan was educated in Australia and has a PhD from Curtin University of Technology in Western Australia, a Master of Design from the University of Technology, Sydney, and a degree in visual communication from Sydney College of the Arts.
Professor Cahalan’s research interests are in visual communication, including contemporary typography. His book Type, trends and fashion is currently in production in New York.
