Announcing the appointment, CSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Goulter, said that as the University and the School adjusts to Federal Government cuts in its funding, it is important for the staff and students in the School to have experienced leadership and management.
“Dr Tulloch has been Head of the School of Social Sciences and Liberal Studies on the Bathurst Campus for over five years. She is a proven academic leader and budget manager,” Professor Goulter said.
“She is an ideal appointment to work with staff and students and actively manage a process of change so that, as the school implements strategies to move out of budgetary problems, it will maintain the quality of its the courses.”
Dr Tulloch has led course development at CSU, particularly in professional fields as diverse as clinical psychology, pre-service police education and double degrees in the communication field.
She has research interests in media communication, publishing on the topics of children and television, television violence, and media and the perception of crime.
Dr Tulloch will hold her appointment until the end of the year, during which time the University will recruit a new Head of School of Communication to take over for the 2003 academic year. Dr Leonora Ritter, will take over as Acting Head of the School of Social Sciences and Liberal Studies for the six month duration.
