Ranked number one for undergraduate employment eight years in a row

Charles Sturt University ranks first among all Australian public universities for full-time employment of undergraduates eight years in a row.

Charles Sturt University continues to be the university that delivers full-time employment as quickly as possible after graduation.

For the eighth year in a row, the University has been ranked number one for undergraduates who get jobs after studying with Australian public universities.

Data published in the latest edition of the Good Universities Guide reveals that 89 per cent of our undergraduate students find full-time employment within 4 months of graduating, the highest rate among all Australian public universities.

Charles Sturt Vice-Chancellor Professor Renée Leon said the University has mastered courses which provide the latest in theory along with cutting-edge, practical, real-world experience.

“As a regional university our students are well-versed in rolling up their sleeves to obtain both the academic knowledge required while getting out there and maximising all practical opportunities available,” Professor Leon said.   

“Our industry partnerships continue to grow, with courses such as the Bachelor of Engineering offering paid placements for longer than other universities, which gives our students the advantage, particularly in these tough economic times.”

Charles Sturt also received five stars with respect to postgraduate employment, with 91 per cent of postgraduates securing full-time employment within four months of graduation.

The University was ranked second in NSW for students who were the first in their family to attend university and third in NSW for overall experience from postgraduates.

The Good Universities Guide’s fields of study where Charles Sturt University led all Australian universities for full-time employment within four months include:

  • Agriculture postgraduates (89 per cent)
  • Environmental studies postgraduates (89 per cent)
  • Communication postgraduates (88 per cent)
  • Nursing undergraduates (93 per cent)

 The Good Universities Guide’s fields of study where Charles Sturt University led all NSW universities include:  

  • Dentistry undergraduates who secure full-time employment within four months of graduating
  • Humanities student support and teaching quality

The Good Universities Guide also highlighted that Charles Sturt received five-star ratings for full-time employment within four months in the following areas:

  • Business postgraduates (93 per cent)
  • Education postgraduates

Additional areas of study where the University achieved impressive results included within psychology, with 81 per cent of undergraduate students gaining full-time employment within four months; social work, with 89 per cent of undergraduates employed full-time within the same period; and 97 per cent of veterinary science undergraduates employed within four months.

The Good Universities Guide’s results and rankings are created using data and information provided by the Australian Government Department of Education, and graduate and student experience surveys.
