An innovative agreement between Charles Sturt University (CSU) and TAFE NSW – Northern Sydney Institute (NSI) will make it easier for TAFE students in business to become eligible to earn a university degree.
The document, Agreement for Pathway Programs with Delivery and Support, will be signed tomorrow, Friday 26 February, at NSI at Gore Hill.
The Vice-Chancellor and President of CSU, Professor Ian Goulter, said, “This agreement will allow NSI to deliver CSU degree subjects so students can continue studying at NSI and graduate with a Charles Sturt University degree – a Bachelor of Information Technology or a Bachelor of Business Studies. We are looking at offering more courses in the future, too, in areas of complementary strength.
“This is a novel approach and minimises transition issues students often have between vocational education and training and university. The agreement also offers professional development opportunities for university and TAFE staff.
“Charles Sturt University is about education for the professions and that’s what is at the crux of this agreement. We are keen to work with this institute because it is important for the university sector to work with TAFE to lift education levels throughout Australia. Northern Sydney Institute has an excellent reputation in a range of areas that match well with the University’s profile.”
The agreement will mean more people who live in the vicinity of Northern Sydney Institute will be able to obtain higher education qualifications, providing more professionals locally.
