The
Federal Minister for Agriculture, The Hon Barnaby Joyce MP, has visited the Graham Centre for
Agricultural Innovation at CSU in Wagga Wagga to
see first-hand research to enhance Australian agriculture.
An
international animal science award will be presented to a CSU academic this month for his commitment to animal production in
Australia and throughout Asia.
Forget the dairy and cattle yards, never mind the sheep or
pigs. An unusual work placement has shown CSU veterinary science student, Ms Laura Bairstow a different side of livestock production.
An
interest in how dairy cows digest their food, and the resulting methane burps,
has taken a CSU student to the United States to
further her research.
Getting communities
involved is crucial to the success of the Murray Darling Basin Plan. That's the
message CSU wetlands expert, Professor Max Finlayson,
will deliver at the Australian Regional Development Conference.
Australia's Governor General, His Excellency
the Honorable Sir Peter Cosgrove, AK MC, inspected CSU's award winning National Life Sciences Hub as part of his visit to
CSU in Wagga Wagga on 2 October.
It's
no surprise CSU student Mrs Rosemary McKean has
trained to become a vet - she grew up surrounded by animals and watched both
her parents work in the profession.
